One has to grab the opportunities as they come. The opportunity presented to you might take you to a different country. When moving to a different country one has to think of various aspects of life.
The most important factor being his/her family. Most of the people prefer to go alone and analyze the situation. After sometime they call their spouses and family. Sometimes children are called only after their parents have settled down and are certain about what to expect. The airline authorities have taken such facts into consideration and have framed their policies to help minors enjoy their flight without any hesitation.
Airlines and airport authorities provide two types of services. The first type of service is for the kids in the age bracket of 5-14 years. In this service kids will be accompanied by one of the staff members throughout their journey.
The person who is responsible for the kid will look into each and every formality at the airport. He/she will guide the kid and also provide moral support, in case the kid gets scared or overwhelmed.
Second type of service is for the young teenagers in the age bracket of 15-17 years. Each minor is provided with free snacks on the flight and is also provided with some toys and puzzles, so that the kid remains occupied and enjoys the flight without getting scared.
Some terms that people should be familiar with before taking any rash decision are unaccompanied minors and young passengers. Unaccompanied minor means any passenger below the age of 12 or 14, depending on the airline policies. Young passengers mean the passengers between the age of 12-16 years.
Young passengers are allowed to travel on their own provided that their parent or guardian has completed all the formalities and also have confirmed the same with the airline authorities. Passengers who fall in the age bracket of 16-18 years cannot accompany minors.
If someone wants to opt for these services, then he/she should visit the official site of that particular airline or contact them directly to know the procedure and the rates for those services.
